Built through a partnership between the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Newark Street Park K-9 Friends, The Newark Street Dog Park is the perfect place to take your pup on a lazy summer afternoon.
The Newark Street Dog Park does have a few rules that visitors to the park must follow, like having up to date tags, cleaning up after and controlling your dog, and leashing dogs outside of the park itself or at the first sign of aggression. If everyone adheres to these guidelines, all of the park’s visitors—both human and canine—can have an enjoyable time.
If you haven’t visited the dog park before, you might have some questions, like “How do I know if my dog should go to a dog park?” and “How can I make sure my dog is safe during and after our day at the dog park?” The Newark Street Dog Park’s guidelines are an excellent starting point: if you’re following their rules, you’re off on the right foot (or paw, rather). Do some research or talk to your pup’s trainer to make sure they’re ready to go off-leash at a dog park and be sure to make sure they get enough water. Done right, you’re both in for a day of fun!
