Are you of craft beers? If yes: this weekend head to Bull Run Park in Centreville, Virginia for the Northern Virginia Fall BrewFest. Virginia is home to a burgeoning craft beer scene and many local craft and micro breweries will be present to support the BrewFest. Only a short trip from Cathedral Commons, the BrewFest is a great destination for a fun day trip.
Of course, you’re at the BrewFest for beer and you will certainly not find your options in short supply. With over 57 breweries and cideries present, there are a ton of options no matter your palate. From local options like Flying Dog Breweries as well as 19 other Virginia breweries, 17 of which are located in Northern Virginia, to breweries from across the pond like Boddington’s and more.
Show up hungry because there are a lot of fantastic food options at this year’s BrewFest. Ayoba-Yo will be there serving tasty South African sausages (called Boerewors), Big Pan Parties will be serving jambalaya, and MMG Pretzels Plus will have a ton of delicious pretzels that will pair perfectly with your favorite pint. Save room for dessert and pick up a delicious sorbet or gelato from GG’s Frozen Treats.
There’s more to the BrewFest than just eating and drinking. (But don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of that!) Learn how to cook with beer with The Guiding Knife and Starr Hill Brewery with their Cooking With Beer culinary demonstrations taking place three times daily. If you would rather just sit back and relax, there will be live music everyday throughout the festival.
The BrewFest is taking place October 18, 2014 and October 19, 2014 from 11:00 AM through 7:00 PM. The variety of breweries and beer samples can’t be beat; it’s a must-attend for beer lovers in Northern Virginia!
