Cathedral Commons now offers something to keep moms and dads, and their little ones, busy throughout the spring and summer months. Mornings with Mommy & Daddies, Too! is a free interactive program for children of all ages. On the second Wednesday of each month, May through September, Mornings with Mommy & Daddies, Too will meet at Newark Street at Wisconsin Avenue (in front of Giant Food).
Each month, a different theme will be presented. The schedule of activities are as follows:
- May 11: “Music in Motion” – From 10 -11 am, experience songs, dances, finger-plays, stories, instrument play, creative movement, puppetry, and more! From 11 am – noon, create puppet crafts and enjoy sweet treats after the show.
- June 8: Mighty Mole Gardens will lead gardening activities for the children. They will enjoy interactive learning, games, and the chance to decorate their own planter box (while supplies last).
- July 13: Frogs, Turtles, and Snakes, Oh My! – Reptiles Alive will present a live animal show for the first 45 minutes followed by a “Reptile Encounter” after the show with an opportunity to pet a live snake, touch a turtle shell and more. Perfect for pre-school and school age children.
- August 10: The Global Sleepover, in coordination with the School of International Service at American University, will offer a fun storytelling and reading program. To celebrate the Olympics, the program will have an Olympic theme.
- September 14: TBD
