Chef Alfredo Solis’ mother grew up in the Mexican countryside, with a clay anafre in lieu of a gas or electric stove. With this in mind, the restaurateur, known already for restaurants Mezcalero and El Sol, opened a new restaurant: Anafre DC. With this family tie and irrefutable experience, it’s no doubt that the Mexican cuisine inspired here, like customer favorites mole poblano and polo a la brasa, has been met with stellar reviews since Anafre opened its doors.
Drawing once more from Mexican roots, Anafre’s cocktail menu is especially unique, featuring 16 items inspired by regions of Mexico. With Happy Hour from 2 pm to 7 pm Sunday through Thursday and everyday late night from 10 pm to 12 pm, there are lighter options available, such as tacos, nachos, and shrimp tostadas, in addition to a dedicated Happy Hour drink menu.
