Meet Sunny Shih, Your Assistant Property Manager!

As part of our behind-the-scene series introducing you to the team who makes Cathedral Commons so fantastic, meet Sunny Shih. We emailed with her about what makes the Cathedral Commons property and team so special. Read on to learn more!

What is your background in the multifamily community industry?
I was a hospitality management/international business major in college and interned with Bozzuto Management Company my senior year; after graduation, they brought me on full-time at another Class A luxury community in DC before the Cathedral Commons project.

What is the best part of being a part of the Cathedral Commons team?
The best part about being with the CC team is that everyone is very eager for the project’s success and positive impact on the community, and we work very well together. Our team has a very supportive environment so I am lucky to be a part of it.

What sets Cathedral Commons apart from other luxury apartment communities?
In addition to modern, high-end apartment finishes that distinguishes us from other apartment communities, we also have three distinct styles of homes that other communities may not have—-we have incredible lofted apartments with 20-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, flats with views of the National Cathedral, and elegant 3-bedroom, 3-bath townhomes with fireplaces. All of these are built with the luxury lifestyle in mind, and our future residents will experience the comfort of home from the day they move in. Moreover, we will have the incomparable convenience of having Giant grocery, CVS pharmacy, Starbucks, and other exciting restaurants and retail right below us.

The Cathedral Commons website mentions the importance of helping residents live “effortlessly comfortable”–what amenities and features were designed with this goal in mind?
We have a rooftop grille area with a stunning view of the National Cathedral, 24-hour fitness center, a terrace overlooking the hustle and bustle of Newark Street and Wisconsin Avenue, and some residents will even have private patios that are professional landscaped.

How do the unique features and amenities–especially ones like the concierge and Home Away From Home service–fit into and elevate the lifestyles of Cathedral Commons residents?
Our Bozzuto signature services will have our residents living at ease, knowing that their home is always taken care of, so they have one less thing to worry about during their day. These programs are designed so that all our residents have to do when they get home is sit back and relax.

What kind of monthly events does Cathedral Commons organize for residents?
We are hoping to have fun events that are fitting with the season and holidays, even the lesser-known holidays like National Cheesecake Day. We also are planning on hosting whiskey and wine tasting events, mixology classes, and paint-and-sip sessions that are fun activities to bring our apartment community together.

Cathedral Commons’ neighborhood has been called “a small town in the city”; what is the appeal of the neighborhood and why do you think residents are flocking to the area?
The appeal of our neighborhood is that even though it is in the metropolis of Washington DC, it is nestled away in a peaceful residential nook, so we have the best of both worlds. The excitement of the city is right outside your doorstep, but you are also close by to the parks and greenery in upper northwest DC.

Cathedral Commons community has already done a lot to improve the neighborhood–where do you see the neighborhood in 5 years?
In 5 years, we hope that the neighborhood will find a pleasant balance between the commercial and the residential, with more local and family businesses flocking to the area and adding even more convenience to our residents and our neighbors in Cathedral Heights. We hope that down the line, Cathedral Heights will be a lively part of Washington DC.

Any exciting upcoming developments Cathedral Commons residents can expect?
Giant grocery is opening on November 6th which we are all excited about; we will have several restaurants, such as the trendy Barcelona Wine Bar and Raku sushi. Keep an eye on us—we will have even more exciting retail partners to come!
