Have you experienced the initial shock, then excitement of walking into your local Giant or convenience shop that is fully decked with holiday décor yet? It seemed as though the hundreds of pumpkins stacked on display across Washington DC were swapped for wreaths and poinsettias overnight! More hints of the holiday season have landed upon us, as autumn toned leaves fall from their branches, and the weather turns wintrier. It is only a matter of time before holiday carols start blaring from local radio stations.
During our Fall Fest about a month ago, an excited and energetic community from within the Cathedral Heights neighborhood emerged to play, eat, drink and socialize on Newark Street. Cathedral Commons will continue to serve as an anchor for this great neighborhood by providing a dynamic gathering space for many occasions. Of course, the Holidays are no exception! We are thrilled to have our very first Holiday Tree placed in front of Giant, and even more delighted to host an official Holiday Tree Lighting guaranteed to ripen your holiday spirit!
On November 28th, beginning at 5:00, visit Cathedral Commons for family-friendly holiday tunes from The Thomas Circle Singers, warm drinks from Starbucks, cookies and milk and other festive snacks, photos with Santa (cats and dogs welcome!), and free giveaways for kids. At 6:00, sounds from Clear Harmonies A Capella group are sure to build excitement as you help us count down the official Holiday Tree Lighting at 7:00!
The event is free for all to attend. Many thanks to our sponsors: The Washington Ballet and Wells Fargo!
