Every new season brings a new collection and blooming garden to the Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens. If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting this mansion and its surround gardens, it is truly a quiet respite in the hustle and bustle of DC.
The mansion is the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, and boasts a variety of collections, from Russian art and porcelain, to traditional English furnishings, and much more. Each room is set and dressed for its original use, but also features impressive art and artifacts. From the mansion, 13 acres of sprawling gardens surround the estate, with everything from seasonal blooms, to a putting green, and Japanese-style garden filled with stone figures. Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens has a full day's worth of art, architecture, and landscaping to admire.
You can visit the estate Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as attending special programs and events held monthly.
