Meet Juliana Thomas, Cathedral Commons Property Manager!

What is your background in the multifamily community industry?
I joined Bozzuto 5 years ago and have managed several of their luxury urban communities: Newseum Residences (DC), 220Twentith Street (VA no longer manager), Residences on The Avenue (DC, mixed use), and The Whitney (MD downtown Bethesda).

What is the best part of being a part of the Cathedral Commons team?
I grew up in this area and have always loved this part of NW D.C. It is such a beautiful historic neighborhood that is one of a kind. It will continue to be exciting to see how this project enhances the neighborhood and provides additional local retail. It is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a Bozzuto Development, Constructed, Owned, and Managed multifamily mixed use project. It has been fascinating to see the project develop and it will be very exciting to help ensure its success.

What sets Cathedral Commons apart from other luxury apartment communities?
Cathedral Commons will offer the best of both worlds; residential feel, but in the center of the city, with access to all you need. The neighborhood has access to historical landmarks and parks providing a residential serene feel. It is unique that it feels this way since we will have on-site retail so residents don’t have to venture far and are minutes to multiple MetroBus locations and 1 mile from two metro stations. Residents who commute to other areas of the city are quickly able to get around. Those commuting outside the city are also close to Maryland and Virginia.

The Cathedral Commons website mentions the importance of helping residents live “effortlessly comfortable”–what amenities and features were designed with this goal in mind?
Residents at Cathedral Commons will have everything they need outside their front door; grocery(Giant), restaurants, and other retailers. In the community we will offer amenities such fitness center, business center, club room, and rooftop terrace with stunning Cathedral views. We will also offer Bozzuto Top Notch Services to include 24 hour concierge, emergency maintenance, home away from home services to name a few.

What kind of monthly events does Cathedral Commons organize for residents?
We plan on having a monthly breakfast and wines of the world club. We also hope to host local happy hours and seminar series, ex. Painting classes, flower arrangement design, whatever our residents desire to explore.

Cathedral Commons’ neighborhood has been called “a small town in the city”; what is the appeal of the neighborhood and why do you think residents are flocking to the area?
There is an appeal to the neighborhood, because its offers a quiet residential and historical feel. Although it feels nestled away, residents are still close to several larger neighborhoods such as Cleveland Park and Tenelytown. With the development of Cathedral Commons residents will no longer need to travel elsewhere as everything will be at their fingertips; restaurants, shops, and other retailers.

Cathedral Commons community has already done a lot to improve the neighborhood–where do you see Cathedral Heights in 5 years?
I anticipate this historic neighborhood to still be a charming and unique corner of D.C, but with the addition of retail I believe it will become more vibrant. I can imagine it will become a destination for those within and outside of the immediate neighborhood to enjoy time with family and friends.
